Translation

Translation means converting a text written in one language into another. Specialised translation requires a translator who specialises in that specific field. BLS supports the specialists in their work, mainly by updating terminology databases dedicated to a specific area or client.

Localisation

Localisation is the multi-lingual translation of software and its subsequent adaptation to the culture of the countries where it will be used (measurements, names, examples, etc.). This discipline demands precisely the tools and know-how that BLS is in a position to deliver.

Revision

Revision can be at a variety of levels: re-reading against the original text, linguistic and spelling corrections, stylistic editing and so on. It may be necessary to revise a source text prior to translation when, for example, the text has been written in a language other than the author’s mother tongue, or if the linguistic and stylistic aspects must be immaculate.

Terminology

Depending on the deadline, each translation project is accompanied by a preliminary terminological study. This means analysing all relevant documentation. We extract the terms specific to the field and/or the client and import them into a dedicated database.
In short, we want to write the way you do. This huge plus for a company’s communications and credibility can only be provided for our regular clients, as this level of quality can only be achieved thanks to close collaboration supported by reference documents, targeted feedback and database approval.
All the terminology we collect is permanently stored and supplied to the various individuals involved – the translator, the project manager, the reviser and the client. By regularly updating our databases we are able to ensure maximum consistency on projects involving several translators, and to work effectively using our computer-aided translation tools.

Sworn translations

BLS also offers a sworn translation service. This means the translation of official documents required by a particular authority. You should check in advance with the authority in question as to the level of authentication your document requires, and the type of translation needed.

Adaptation

Adaptation refers to the creative translation of advertising and publicity material. The aim is to reproduce the desired communication effects (information, emotion, advertising) as far as the target is concerned as closely as possible.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final check of the text on the page before printing. This is a crucial stage in the processing of a complete professional product. No major changes are made at this level: the proofreader is now combing the text for the last typos, linebreak errors or minor layout imperfections. Unlike revision, proofreading is done directly on the paper, on the ‘ready to print’ version.
