BLS was created in May 2001 with the buy-out of the BLS sprl business and name, and the company has been involved in translating and interpreting since 1974.

Today, BLS boasts a wealth of experience, particularly in the social and medical fields and when it comes to institutional affairs, administration, technology, law, economics and finance. Our mastery of these areas rests on the high level of expertise of our professional translators.

All members of our team work only into their mother tongue and in their field of specialisation. With the aim of always maintaining the highest quality, we usually entrust texts in the same subject matter or from the same client to the same translator.

Ideally located in the heart of the European district of Brussels, BLS supplies translation and interpreting services for a client base who will testify to the agency’s top-level expertise: ministers, law firms, NGOs, lobby groups, multi-nationals, and pharmaceutical and commercial companies.

Translation is a skill which goes far beyond merely understanding the meaning of a document. The methods we employ when recruiting in-house staff and freelancers are therefore crucial. The text must be re-created in the mother tongue of the reader, but it must also be completely accurate.

So when we at BLS choose our translators, our selection procedure is scrupulous. We ensure our staff have the required training, experience or educational background in translating, interpreting or linguistics.

Naturally, our people are superb linguists – but BLS translators are also experts in one or more other fields, and capable of addressing our clients’ issues.
